The Trans Salon

This poster is a trail camera still of a wood stark (a large white and grey bird), looking behind itself towards the camera, in a dense forest. The image has square, circle and rectangle cut outs that show a distorted version of the image underneath. This distorted image has a crunchy texture and is in blue, purple and green hues. Over top of the image there is writing in a classic serif font in pastel colours. The name of the event is in yellow, the date, time and location of the event are written in blue, the rest of the writing is in pink. The text reads ‘Glasgow Trans Collective presents, The Trans Salon, a community event open to trans+ people only, at The House Arts Collective, 108 - 110 Napiershill Street, 6th of December - 6 - 8pm.

THE TRANS SALON - 6/12/25 - 6-8pm

As a part of our wonderful exhibition ‘Trail Cams’ with @thehouseartscollective (see previous post for details) we will be hosting a salon for trans people to share and discuss ideas.

In the spirit of 18th century France, we are inviting all corners of the trans community to bring interesting ideas (typically in the form of excerpts from articles, books, essays, prose, etc.) and present them to inspire casual and good natured conversation. In the spirit of the ‘Trail Cams’ exhibition, these ideas do not have to be related to transness. The Trans Salon will be hosted and lightly moderated by our lovely salonnière to ensure everyone has the opportunity to contribute.

Please note this is not a crit or an opportunity to get feedback on your work, you are welcome to bring your own work but we will be discussing the ideas presented, rather than the work itself.

This event is exclusively for trans+ people, it’s free to attend (with an optional donation) and you can get a ticket at the link in our bio! (note: at GTC we don’t believe in means-testing transness, if you feel you fall under the trans label, we believe you)

ACCESSIBILITY: The House Arts Collective has a main door which is not wheelchair accessible as there are tight turns and small doors, however there is a larger separate door with a ramp designed for wheelchair users. There is an accessible toilet, however, we feel the turns to get there are tight. The floor is also slightly uneven so care must be taken for anyone with difficulty balancing or who uses a mobility aid. We will update this with door measurements etc. as we receive them, thanks for your patience. There may be alcohol present.
