We are a Glasgow based intra-community support system. We want to create an emergency fund to help trans people in Glasgow flee danger to life. So we're going to.
We need new ways and new places to find and care for each other. We're putting on a series of trans-led events in Glasgow to raise money for our* fund whilst simultaneously giving trans people an opportunity to meet and foster community.
[We are currently setting up our hotline.] The money will be used to provide emergency accommodation and provisions in Glasgow for trans people in immediate danger. We are continuously disheartened by key services' lack of care for trans people, so it's time to build our own confidential and judgement-free support.
In addition to our emergency fund, we run two types of events: Fundraisers and Community Spaces.
Our fundraisers are arranged specifically to raise money that we use to support those in need with accommodation, food, and travel. Events like these and donations from caring community members are how we cover the cost of our operations.
Our community space events are a bit different. They have a priority of accessibility. And while all our events have had ongoing no-one-turned-away-for-lack-of-funds policies, our community events aren’t cash-driven, and are about providing specifically leisure and services. These have been clothes-swaps, exhibitions, meals, and meetings.
If you’re interested in supporting either of these with a location, an idea, or getting involved, get in touch! We’d love to hear from you.
